Links for light reading 13-9-10
I wrote this post a while back. The content can still be relevant but the information I've linked to may not be available.
Every so often, I post a few links to interesting sites that I have seen on my travels around the web. If you would like to see more of this type of post, let me know in the comments. Anyway, here's a few for this month:
- Lanyrd is a new website, by Natalie Downe and Simon Willison, that is a mash-up of conference event data and Twitter (in the main, but with Amazon book links as well). I came across the website when I attended dConstruct recently. It's a neat website that enables you to track conferences, mark your attendance at conferences, and see which of your Twitter friends will be attending.
- There's a useful overview of mobile web development techniques on the Opera Developer website with a screencast by Andreas Bovens. It's a very good summary and explanation of different approaches including the use of the viewport meta tag and CSS3 media queries.
- HTML5 Canvas: The Future of Graphics on the Web by Rob Hawkes
- Instant CSS Code is a website that enables you to quickly create a web project framework with valid (X)HTML and CSS. Simple choose a few options and you'll be able to donwload a zip file with the files you need to get started.
I'll probably post a few nicely designed website examples for the next one of these.

It’s always a bonus when someone collects a load of useful links in one place like this. On a quick visit to most of them I’ve already found something worth investigating further – the viewport meta tag, should come in handy for making mobile friendly sites, so thanks for that.
