Add your own styles to websites
I wrote this post a while back. The content can still be relevant but the information I've linked to may not be available.
Jon Hicks has written a great article at 24Ways entitled User Styling. The article describes how you can write your own CSS styles for websites using a variety of tools. For example, you might want to change the font style, make the text bigger, remove a header… and so on.
Inspired by the article, I downloaded the Stylish extension for Firefox and wrote a rule that hides a really prominent Flash banner on a website that I visit regularly. I am really fed up with the banner, it takes up half the screen, I've seen it a thousand times…. so this is a great way to remove it every time I visit that particular website. Yay!
Other websites that I might change for my own benefit include the BBC website where I think it might look a lot better in a font other than Verdana. Just my preference but I find Verdana really unattractive these days. It's been used so much I guess…..
